Argus Cares' Growing Community Impact

In March 2024, we interviewed Liz Miller, Project Manager at Argus Logistics, to learn more about the Argus Cares philanthropy team.
During that interview, Liz explained that the team aims “to plan at least one event per quarter where we promote internal participation during standard work hours.” She continued to explain that, thus far, the team has exceeded that goal and continues to do so.
The intent of this post is to dive into the various opportunities that the team has participated in over the past few months, while encouraging other companies to search for impactful ways to be in their community.
April 2024
American Red Cross Blood Drive
Coordinated by Julia Ting, Accural Analyst at Argus, the team partnered with the American Red Cross to host its second blood drive.
Many members of the Argus Logistics team took time to donate, along with other residents of the Sheffield Office Park and the surrounding community.
Even though the team fell just shy of its goal, up to 75 lives were saved with the collection of 25 pints!
Mother's Day Donation Drive
During April, the team began collecting various items to benefit the Women and Children’s Center at Grace Centers of Hope in Pontiac. The specific items that the team asked for included:
- Feminine Hygiene Products
- Baby/Children’s Hygiene Products
- Baby Diapers/Pull-Ups
- Baby Formula or Pureed Food
- Pampering Items for Women (such as press-on nails, hair accessories, etc.)
Not only did members of the Argus Logistics team go above and beyond with donations, but individuals outside of the organization chipped in as well.
Local Mary Kay Consultant, Kerissa Gauthier, raised funding from her church and social circle to donate ten Satin Hands sets to the women of the shelter. Additionally, Kate Schmida, Retail Operations Associate with Olive and June, sent nearly 40 pairs of press-on nail sets and nearly a dozen sets of nail stickers.
On May 8, just before Mother’s Day, members of the Argus Cares team, along with Kerissa, visited Grace Centers of Hope to drop off the donated items. They were offered a detailed and empowering tour of the facilities with Mark Cunningham and Kevin Hines.

Rebel Dogs Detroit
After the prior enrichment day, the Argus Cares team made the purchase of a playground, two tunnels, and two pools for the four-legged residents of the Rebel Dogs Detroit no-kill rescue.
Armed with nearly 20 volunteers from multiple companies, the team constructed the playground, cleaned kennels, spread mulch, and assisted the Rebel Dogs team with other tasks they needed.
We would like to give direct mentions to the individuals and their companies who joined our team to help out:
- Aarron Willburn | Founder of Insuring Change;
- Angela Gauthier | Business Development Manager at Gulla CPA;
- Autumn Hegner | Employee Benefits Consultant at USI Insurance Services; and
- Brooke Williams | Creative Director at NuNorm.
June 2024
With 13 employees from most Argus departments in attendance, the team attended Grace Center of Hope’s annual Picking Up Pontiac event.
The team was first tasked with pulling weeds, trimming bushes, leveling flowerbeds, and spreading fresh mulch at the Hands of Hope Daycare. Working together for a common goal enabled the team to enhance communication among the team while learning new skills for some.
Once the daycare was looking spiffy, the team was shown to two neighboring homes on Seneca Street. The goal was to weed and level the flowerbeds, plant new foliage, spread fresh mulch, weed the stone pathways leading up to the homes, and provide general clean-up of debris around the homes.
These homes are the property of Grace and are occupied by residents who have graduated from the one-year program. To occupy these homes, the residents must meet with a financial advisor, who is on staff with Grace, while maintaining a full-time job.
The Argus Cares team was made up of the following departments:
- Account Management – 2 Account Managers
- Business Development – Sr. Business Development Executive
- Executive Assistant
- IT – Database Developer
- IT – Database Engineer
- IT – Business Intelligence Manager
